“When Everything That Can Go Wrong Does… Don’t Let This Happen To You!“
Below is a story from Diane. Diane did not use the TN Visa Expert Application Kit when applying for her TN Visa, Diane contacted TN Visa Expert for help after she was denied her TN Visa.
TN Visa Expert wishes to sincerely thank Diane to allow us to publish her story. She is committed to helping other Canadians avoid the problems she has had and sees how the TN Visa Expert Kit could have had her avoid this if she had used it rather than attempting it on her own.
Diane’s Story:
Here is an outline of my situation to date. Tracy, approached me with a job offer to come down to Seattle to consult her with her dance school. After investigating and researching I was told I would be able to gain access under the NAFTA approved profession as a management consultant.
On May 13th I was denied access and sent back to Canada.
A month earlier I went to the Sumas Border to find out if I was able to cross the border and how I was to get an 1-94 to work in the US. With me I took my letter of offer from my employer, my resume and all my certificates. They told me everything looked in order and asked if I was crossing today? I said no, I was only here to find out information of what I needed to do to make sure everything was in order before I accepted the employment offer. I was told to come a couple of days before I was to start my employment in Portland and to bring this letter, my certificates and my personal belongings ready to go to work and they would review the information and issue me an I-94. Upon this confirmation I gave my notice at my current job in Canada and put my home on the market to sell. I packed up my home ready to ship my belongings once I found a place to rent in Portland, change my car insurance coverage, got copies of my driving records, extended my medical coverage and said good bye to my family and friends.
I arrived at the Sumas Border on Sunday, May 13th with the full understanding I had met the requirements to enter to the US to start my job on May 15th. The US guard took my paper work and said it would take about 20 minutes for him to review the information. I could hear him speaking on the phone to someone- I assumed it was my new employer verifying my paperwork. (Turns out it must have been his supervisor as he never contacted my employer) He returned saying I was denied access as I did not have a Masters Degree (4 years of education) and that I was not going across as a management consultant but as a manager. I explained I had a 2 year diploma and had been working for over 15 years in the industry as a manager and had the skills needed to be a consultant to this specialized swim school in Portland. He proceeded to say I was denied a TN Visa. He told me it would be about an hour for him to complete the paperwork and for me to wait. When he returned he told me I was now red-flagged and gave me a package of information about the H-1B visa. I asked if being red flagged meant I could not cross the border to go shopping or on a holiday and he said no, there was no criminal charges, but I may have problems every time I cross into the US and to ensure I had a returned ticket or was not going to be going to work in the US. He then told me I would need to be fingerprinted and my photo taken for their records saying I was denied access. It was a very scary experience and I could not believe this was happening as truly I did nothing wrong and would never try to enter the US falsely.

“successful and obviously very happy”
“My son Sean was successful in attaining his TN Visa. Overall the service of TN Visa Expert was excellent. Sean took advantage of the Lawyer Network and it was reassuring to know that the lawyer review of his job description and university credentials indicated he would certainly fit the Technical Publications Writer category.
Sean also chose to go through Toronto rather than Calgary, based on your recommendation, as outlined in the ranking of Ports of Entry. Had he had more time I would have suggested he use the full lawyer review and consultation as well.
In Sean’s words he was “grilled for over an hour” mostly questioning whether his job offer really fit the category. In the end he was successful and obviously very happy.
Thanks for your service!”

“…definitely worth the cost…”
“I was at the border yesterday (Pearson Airport, terminal 3) and got my TN status approved in around 20 minutes. I have had the TN status quite a few times but this is the first time that I was not asked even one question. Of course it’s impossible to know if it was the format of the letter that made the difference, but I believe the format of the letter at least contributed to the ease of acceptance.
It was definitely worth the cost to get some suggestions and ideas for how to format the employer letter. Thank you.”

“The entire process was easy and smooth, thanks to the preparation of this kit! Now I get to follow my dreams…”
“I just wanted to write you a quick note to say Thank You!
I purchased your kit recently, and applied Wednesday morning for my TN Visa at the Calgary Airport. Everything went very smoothly! I arrived at the airport at 5:00am for my 7:00am flight. After waiting in line to reach the Immigration Officials, I told the Officer that I wanted to apply for my TN status. He took me off to a back room and asked me to wait in a small waiting room with a couple of other people.
After waiting for about 25 minutes, an officer called me up to the counter and asked me for my paperwork. Thank God I bought your kit, I felt 100% confident that I had everything in order. I packaged everything very neatly in a portfolio fashion, and made sure to be dressed in a suit. They Officer told me to go sit down…after only about 5 minutes, she called me back up. Asked me for $50 USD and stapled the Multiple Entry TN Visa into my passport!
Thank you for preparing such a great kit. I actually purchased a different kit before I bought yours but it just was not very comprehensive. I appreciated that yours really was step by step. And providing examples of the Employment letters really helped my Employer and I create the most effective letter! It was the best money I’ve ever spent and I would highly recommend that anyone going through this process on their own like I was, should buy this kit!
The entire process was easy and smooth, thanks to the preparation of this kit! Now I get to follow my dreams working in Manhattan, NY! Thank you so much!”
