For our adjustment of status we don’t have a financial sponsor and my wife was on maternity leave this past year. We have real estate, savings and other assets. We didn’t meet the minimum income requirements this year. Will we be able to get our green card?
Answer:
With the correct supporting documents and sufficient assets you may be able to obtain your adjustment of status without a sponsor. It is important that you are able to show you will not become a public charge of the government. This means someone who will become dependent on the government. The USCIS Officer will consider the following factors: age, health, family status, assets, resources, financial status, education and skills.
